Over the past few years, many strategies have been designed and implemented to reduce energy consumption for both individuals and professionals. Among these is energy renovation, now accessible to all types of households. But more specifically, what does this strategy consist of? What types of renovations are involved? And how to proceed?

Energy renovation: what is it?

Energy renovation means work to improve a building or structure so that it is able to reduce its energy consumption, through the use of electrical appliances. Otherwise, it consists of renewing all systems related to the need for resources in a house; in order to modernize them and bring them into line with current ecological standards. Such an initiative offers many advantages to homeowners, whether individuals or professionals, such as a reduction in the amount to be paid monthly in energy expenditure, the possibility of saving for each household, or the possibility of increasing the value of one's property.

What to renovate in a building?

The aim of such a renovation is to have a building with low energy consumption at its disposal. This means that the work undertaken must be related to the limitation of expenditure; namely thermal insulation. This has to be revised, renewed, or even installed if there is none yet. This is a very important point, because better thermal insulation of the roof, wall or floor can reduce the rate of energy consumption by up to 80%. In addition, the regulation of hot water and heating is also an integral part of energy renovation. The latter requires the installation of new systems equipped with modern programming and gadgets in thermostat and tap. Other renovations also need to be done, but it should be noted that it is imperative to work with real professionals.

How to proceed with an energy renovation?

For an energy retrofit, it is possible to proceed in phases, i.e. to spread out the work over a fairly long period of time. This happens frequently, mainly because it does not require a huge amount of money but can be within the owner's budget. On the other hand, it is not very advisable in terms of efficiency; and there is even a high risk of mismatch. Otherwise, it can also be used alone for more guarantee in performance. Of course, it is a major investment and requires the presence of a whole professional body.
